Police Watch: Teen arrested for Blue Smoke robbery, Man charged in 7-Eleven robbery

FOURTH TEEN ARRESTED FOR BLUE SMOKE ROBBERY
Police arrested a 16-year-old in connection with a robbery inside Blue Smoke at 116 East 27th Street on March 18. Police said that a host at the restaurant was approached around 7 p.m. by five teenagers who claimed they were raising money for a basketball team before grabbing cash from the victim and fleeing the restaurant. When the victim chased after the teens, one of them hit him on the back of the head.
Four teens have been arrested in connection with the incident. The teen was charged with robbery inside the 13th precinct for the robbery last Tuesday at 5:30 a.m. and his name is being withheld due to his young age.

MAN CHARGED WITH 7-ELEVEN ROBBERY
Police arrested 53-year-old Chris Sanachez for an alleged robbery that took place in the 7-Eleven at 239 East 14th Street on March 7 around 10 p.m. Police said that a customer in the store left his property on the counter and Sanachez grabbed it, then fled the location. The victim, a man in his 50s, reportedly chased after Sanachez and when he caught up with him, the suspect allegedly punched the victim in the face, causing pain and swelling. Sanachez was arrested inside the 13th precinct last Tuesday at 7 p.m.

WOMAN ACCUSED OF PUSHING MAN INTO TRACKS AT UNION SQUARE
Police arrested 57-year-old Marjorie Chambers for alleged reckless endangerment at East 14th Street and Union Square West inside the Union Square subway station last Friday at 12:17 a.m. Police said that Chambers recklessly pushed the victim into the roadbed of the train, creating a substantial risk of injury, although no train was approaching at the time of the incident. The victim did not have any visible injuries.

MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING TWO WOMEN ON THIRD AVENUE
Police arrested 19-year-old Joel Jacxzon for alleged assault and harassment in front of 385 First Avenue last Saturday at 12:15 p.m. Police said that while walking along the sidewalk on Third Avenue near East 15th Street, Jacxzon walked up to one of the victims and allegedly threw his shoulder into her, causing her to lose her balance while walking. Police said that after that, he walked up to another woman and kicked her in her left knee, causing substantial pain. Both victims refused medical assistance at the scene and Jacxzon was caught a few blocks away on First Avenue near East 23rd Street.

SHOPLIFTER ACCUSED OF THROWING DIRT AT SUPERMARKET WORKER
Police arrested 28-year-old Nicholas Thompson inside the Food Emporium at 10 Union Square East last Tuesday at 4 p.m. after he allegedly threw dirt in an employee’s eyes.Police said he took merchandise from a shelf and attempted to leave without paying by hiding the item in his jacket. A loss prevention officer confronted him and while Thompson was being held, he allegedly threw the dirt. Thompson was charged with harassment and petit larceny.

TEEN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULTING GIRLFRIEND IN FRONT OF ACS BUILDING
Police arrested a teenager for assault in front of the Administration for Children’s Services facility at 492 First Avenue last Tuesday at 11:43 p.m. Police were parked nearby when the teen reportedly started punching his girlfriend in the face several times and officers got out of their vehicle to separate the two. ACS security officers were also on the scene. The victim said that she was punched several times in the face and complained of pain. Police said that both teenagers are residents at the ACS facility.

MAN ALLEGEDLY STEALS CHARITY CLOTHES FROM CHURCH
Police arrested 55-year-old Anthony Lonon for an alleged theft inside St. Anne’s Church at 209 East 16th Street last Monday. Someone from the church walked into the precinct the following morning and said that a man who had stolen from a parishioner was outside the station and the victim identified Lonon as the person who had stolen from her. Police said that the bag contained charity clothes. Lonon was charged with petit larceny inside the 13th Precinct on Tuesday at 11:21 a.m.

MAN CHARGED WITH STEALING FROM GREENMARKET VENDOR
Police arrested 32-year-old Stephen Hartie for alleged petit larceny in front of 31 East 17th Street last Friday at 4:17 p.m. Police said that Hartie went under a vehicle belonging to a vendor for the Union Square Geenmarket and attempted to remove money from the cash register box the vendor had stored there. Police said that he fled north on Union Square West and was arrested at the scene, where the victim positively identified him.

TEEN ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED THEFT FROM CAR IN UNION SQUARE
Police arrested a teenager for attempted petit larceny in front of 25 Union Square West last Wednesday at 3:07 p.m. Police said that the teen was inside the victim’s car without permission. The teen is a student at the Union Square Academy for Health Sciences. No further information was available about how the teen got into the car but police said that he didn’t have permission to be there. Nothing was removed from the vehicle.

SHOPLIFTING TEENS HIDE GOODS IN STROLLER
Police arrested three teenage girls for grand larceny last Sunday at 5:48 p.m. inside the Gap at 122 Fifth Avenue. Police said that the girls grabbed a mesh bag inside the store and put numerous items inside the bag, then put the bag in the stroller and covered it with blankets. The teens then attempted to leave the store without paying for the items. All three were also charged with possession of stolen property and endangering the welfare of a child, although it was unclear whose child was in the stroller.

MAN ALLEGEDLY TRIES TO OPEN BANK ACCOUNT FRAUDULENTLY
Police arrested 30-year-old John Metcalf for alleged grand larceny inside the TD Bank at 90 Fifth Avenue last Friday at 6:08 p.m. A teller told police that Metcalf had attempted to open a bank account at the branch and he was allegedly in possession of two checks. Police said that upon further investigation, the bank account associated with the checks was restricted due to fraudulent activity on March 25. The teller also told police that Metcalf is known to the branch to have allegedly made multiple fraudulent transactions.

MAN ARRESTED FOR STOLEN BIKE
Police arrested 32-year-old Ousmane Sawadogo for possession of alleged stolen property in front of 62 West 22nd Street last Monday at 4:06 p.m. The victim told police that his bike was stolen on March 17 and he flagged down officers last Monday at the location because he saw someone with his bike. When police stopped Sawadogo, he was allegedly in possession of the victim’s stolen bike.
