The five robbery suspects seen at Blue Smoke restaurant in Flatiron
FIFTH TEENAGER ARRESTED FOR BLUE SMOKE ROBBERY
Police arrested a fifth teenager for the robbery at Blue Smoke restaurant at 116 East 27th Street on March 18. Police said that the teens approached a host in the restaurant around 7 p.m. and claimed they were raising money for a basketball team before grabbing cash from the victim and fleeing. When the victim chased after them, one of them hit him in the back of the head. The fifth teen was charged with robbery for the incident inside the 13th precinct on April 11 at 10:37 a.m. His name is being withheld due to his young age.
DRIVER CHARGED WITH HITTING PEDESTRIAN ON SECOND AVENUE AND 23RD STREET
Police arrested 23-year-old Kenneth Rowe for alleged vehicular assault at the corner of First Avenue and East 23rd Street on April 13. The victim told police that he was crossing East 23rd Street near Second Avenue at around 3:30 p.m. and was in the crosswalk when Rowe allegedly started turning. The victim told police that Rowe saw him and spoke with him, then allegedly revved his engine and struck him, causing an injury, but was arrested a block away from the incident.
MAN ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING OFFICER AT BELLEVUE
Police arrested 39-year-old Jamar Moore for alleged assault of a peace officer inside Bellevue Hospital at 462 First Avenue on April 10 at 1 a.m. Officers were restraining Moore inside the hospital when he allegedly head-butted the officer intentionally, causing minor bruising and swelling to the area above his eye. Police said that Moore has previously been arrested for assaulting an officer, as well as for petit larceny and transit crimes.
PAIR CHARGED WITH SALE OF HEROIN IN FRONT OF SCHOOL ON EAST 23RD STREET
Police arrested 49-year-old Julio Poey-Lopez and 47-year-old Anna Fuentes for the alleged sale of a controlled substance in front of the American Sign Language and English School 225 East 23rd Street on April 10 at 5:34 p.m. Police said that Poey-Lopez and Fuentes sold alleged heroin to undercover officers in exchange for cash. Poey-Lopez was also allegedly in possession of a large quantity of heroin as well as drug paraphernalia used to package and measure heroin. He was additionally charged with intent to sell a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
SUSPECT BEHIND MULTIPLE PACKAGE THEFTS ON EAST 22ND STREET ARRESTED
Police arrested 27-year-old Jack Padilla for alleged burglaries last week after he was previously arrested for another burglary at the beginning of the month. Police said that Padilla entered 102 East 22nd Street on April 4 around 5 p.m. and 145 East 22nd Street on April 5 between 6 and 9 p.m. and stole packages from each of the locations.
Town & Village reported last week that Padilla entered 145 East 22nd Street without permission on April 4 at 6:44 p.m. and allegedly opened delivered packages that didn’t belong to him.
Padilla was charged with the additional burglaries on April 13 at 12:20 p.m. inside the 13th Precinct.
EMPLOYEE CHARGED WITH STEALING FROM SARABETH’S
Police arrested 27-year-old Konstantin Kozhenov for allegedly stealing from a restaurant where he was employee since 2016. Police said that Kozhenov worked for Sarabeth’s at 381 Park Avenue South and he falsified computer records in order to steal cash from April 18, 2016 to the present. Kozhenov was charged with grand larceny and falsifying records on April 10 at 9 a.m. inside the 13th precinct.
MAN NABBED FOR ALLEGED CREDIT CARD FRAUD AT TJ MAXX
Police arrested 20-year-old Perez Giovanni for alleged grand larceny on April 9 at 8:42 p.m. inside the 13th precinct. Police said that Giovanni entered the TJ Maxx at 620 Sixth Avenue on April 14 at 1:08 p.m. and was approved for a credit card using someone else’s name. Giovanni also allegedly used the line of credit to purchase nine items at the store’s jewelry counter.
WOMAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT AT GOOD SHEPHERD SERVICES
Police arrested 20-year-old Sydney Lugo for an alleged assault inside Good Shepherd Services, a residence for girls, at 337 East 17th Street on April 11 at 10:23 p.m. The victim told police that she was in the bathroom doing her hair when Lugo entered and began arguing with her. Lugo then allegedly punched the victim in her head and body multiple times, causing minor injuries. Police said that Lugo then left the bathroom and threw the victim’s phone against the floor, breaking it.
