Police Watch: Arrests for spa burglary, Union Square bank robbery

MAN ARRESTED FOR SPA BURGLARY
Police arrested a third suspect in connection with stealing from the Spring Garden Spa at 344 East 16th Street on April 25 at 10:30 p.m. Police arrested 25-year-old Kristian George for alleged burglary in front of 10 Union Square East on Thursday, May 31 at 5:36 p.m. George allegedly entered the spa with previously arrested Shaquasha Goldstein, 20, and Elijah Rosario, 19, and the three suspects allegedly removed cash from the register. Police said that the three suspects got away with $180 in cash. According to the district attorney’s office, George and Rosario could be seen on surveillance video ringing the bell to get inside the business. Rosario was sentenced to five months in prison on May 18.
Goldstein and another suspect, 33-year-old Eric Dineen, have been charged in connection with additional robberies at the spa in April and May.

MAN CHARGED WITH UNION SQUARE BANK ROBBERY
Police arrested 63-year-old Richard Johnson on Wednesday, May 30 at 10 a.m. for an alleged robbery that took place inside the HSBC at 15 Union Square West on May 17 around 11 a.m. Police said that Johnson went to the bank, passed the teller a demand note and reached, as if to make it look like he had a weapon, while demanding cash. He then fled the scene. Police said that Johnson was already in federal custody for a previous incident when an investigation connected him with the alleged robbery in Union Square.

ACCUSED SHOPLIFTER ALLEGEDLY PULLS OUT NEEDLE AT MARSHALLS
Police arrested 34-year-old Leslie Rodriguez inside the 13th precinct on June 3 at 11 a.m. for an alleged robbery that took place inside the Marshalls at 620 Sixth Avenue on Wednesday, May 30 at 7 p.m. Police said that when confronted for alleged shoplifting, Rodriguez displayed a hypodermic needle and said, “You’re not stopping me,” at which point she fled. She allegedly dropped her benefit card at the scene, which was later used to identify her.

MAN ARRESTED FOR DRUGS IN KIPS BAY
Police arrested 34-year-old Jose Diaz for possession of an alleged controlled substance at the corner of Park Avenue South and East 29th Street on May 29 at 3:7 p.m. Police said that Diaz was loading an unknown substance into a syringe and an officer stopped Diaz prior to injection. Police said that Diaz admitted the syringe contained cooked crack and he allegedly produced a glass pipe with residue.

MAN ACCUSED OF DRUNK DRIVING AT FIRST AND EAST 23RD
Police arrested 37-year-old Victor Warren for alleged drunk driving at the corner of First Avenue and East 23rd Street on Sunday, June 3 at 4:28 a.m. Police said that Warren was driving west on East 23rd Street when he made a right-hand turn and went north on First Avenue. Police said that Warren made the right turn through a red light and proceeded to go through another red light at East 24th Street. Police turned on their lights and sirens to signal Warren to pull over and police said that he did not stop until East 28th Street. When he was stopped, he allegedly had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and an unsteady balance.

KIPS BAY TEEN ARRESTED FOR STEALING TABLET FROM RESTAURANT
Police arrested a teenager on Friday, June 1 at 2:06 a.m. for a burglary that took place inside Sahib restaurant at 104 Lexington Avenue on Thursday, May 31 at 10:21 a.m. The business owner said that while his restaurant was closed and the lights were off, the teen entered the location without permission and stole a tablet that was on the counter next to the register. The teen was caught inside the Straus Houses at 344 East 28th Street. His name is being withheld due to his young age.

MAN CHARGED WITH MISCHIEF AT BELLEVUE
Police arrested 30-year-old Lorenzo McLucas for alleged criminal mischief inside Bellevue Hospital at 462 First Avenue on May 29 at 4:15 a.m. Police said that McLucas was being removed from the hospital where he was previously evaluated and was being escorted to a patrol car when he allegedly kicked the rear driver’s side window, causing the frame of the door to bend.

MAN ALLEGEDLY STOLE BIKE AT CON ED HQ
Police arrested 37-year-old Manuel Cruz for an alleged burglary on Tuesday, May 29 at 11 a.m. inside the 13th precinct. Police said that Cruz entered a restricted and enclosed area in the garage behind the Con Edison headquarters inside 4 Irving Place on May 2 and allegedly stole a bicycle. Cruz was also charged with grand larceny.

MEN ACCUSED OF FRAUDULENTLY RENTING HOTEL ROOM
Police arrested 27-year-old Emile Constable and 26-year-old Christoph Mills-Lutterodt for alleged grand larceny inside the Royalton Park Avenue Hotel at 420 Park Avenue South on Thursday, May 31 at 1:08 p.m. Police said that the two men were working together to use fraudulent credit cards to purchase a stay for rooms in the hotel. Constable was allegedly in possession of forged credit cards and both were in possession of alleged marijuana. Constable was also charged with forgery and Mills-Lutterodt was additionally charged with identity theft.

MEN ARRESTED FOR ‘DRUG DEAL’ ON LEX
Police arrested 34-year-old John Horn and 21-year-old Shakeim Lango for an alleged drug deal in front of 136 Lexington Avenue on Thursday, May 31 at 10:13 p.m. Police said that Horn exchanged money for crack cocaine with Lango, who was allegedly in possession of additional bags of crack cocaine. Both men were charged with possession of a controlled substance and Lango was also charged with sale of a controlled substance. Police said that Lango is on probation for a strong-armed robbery.

SUSPECT ALLEGEDLY SOLD CRYSTAL METH TO UNDERCOVER COP
Police arrested 61-year-old William Smith and 42-year-old Jeffrey Robinson for sale of an alleged controlled substance in front of 111 West 17th Street on Friday, June 1 at 5:14 p.m. Police said that Smith and Robinson sold crystal methamphetamine to undercover officers. Robinson was also charged with intent to sell a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

MAN NABBED FOR COCAINE ON EAST 27TH
Police arrested 27-year-old Carl Cunard for possession of an alleged controlled substance in front of 203 East 27th Street on Friday, June 1 at 10:07 p.m. Police said that Cunard was in possession of a small ziplock bag of alleged cocaine in plain view on the sidewalk.
